Rocketadmin: A true, open-source database platform

Why another admin panel?
We created Rocketadmin because we wanted an admin panel that works the way we thought all admin panels should work — simply, efficiently, and thoroughly.
After working on the critically-acclaimed link shortening service Short.io for over a decade, our team of developers set out to bring that same level of expertise to a new field we knew we could transform.
At Short.io, our support team needed a way to work with users’ data in order to offer better support, and not a lot of admin panels existed at that time. The ones that did, we didn’t find satisfactory. Others required a good deal of coding to actually use.
That’s why we decided to build a solution that anyone could benefit from, on top of being one we wanted to use ourselves.
Since our start in 2023, we’ve made tremendous progress — but there’s even more coming down the pipeline.
How our interface looks
If you already want to try out the online demo, you can find it here.
But if you need to know more, here’s exactly what we’re offering.
Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, and everything else
It wouldn’t be a particularly good admin panel if we only supported some databases, so we made sure to support not only all the big names, but even some rarer and more obscure ones.

And setting up a database takes minutes, not hours. Just plug in and you’re ready to go.
What else can it do?
You can already do a lot just by connecting all your different databases and orchestrating them on one platform.
But connecting your data to Rocketadmin is only the foundation.
The real fun starts when you take advantage of the different ways to integrate, extend, visualize, and understand.
Automations
Rocketadmin comes with Zapier integration out-of-the-box, allowing you to connect one of over 8,000 apps straight in.
We have an article on some of the more interesting use cases you can start out with.
But if you want Rocketadmin’s data to talk to an external service — or do anything else, really — you can use webhooks to let Rocketadmin communicate with whatever you need.
If you want to know how it works, we have an article on that, too.
UI Widgets
Images, code, passwords, countries, phone numbers, and even foreign key mimicking — whatever additional data type visualization your use case calls for, you can have fields that are rich with the information you need.

AI Insights
What if there’s just too much information to reasonably be expected to understand, especially in a limited amount of time?
AI Insights can help you sift through your data and answer questions about it. This works entirely through easily understandable, human language — super useful when your users need to quickly understand a complex problem.
Related records navigation
Moving between tables is cumbersome and opens the possibility for mistakes.
Rocketadmin provides direct access to your other tables, right from the one you’re working with.
You can edit it straight from the table you’re currently on, and you can even see all instances where it’s being referred to.
Permissions
Create teams, assign roles, and suspend members if required.
With Rocketadmin, you can make sure that everyone sees and has access to exactly what they need.

Audits
If you’re a one-man operation, audits can be useful to refer back to changes you’ve made.
But if you’re running an entire company?
Knowing where and when something happened and who initiated it can not only be important in order to keep track of recent developments, but essential to suss out mistakes or to ensure security.
White-labeling
This is the only paid feature on this list.
If you want to tailor your admin panel with a custom domain and your company’s logo and colors, you can turn Rocketadmin into something that feels more like home.
Use cases
Something like a booking project can easily be done on Rocketadmin
People management
Manage employees, customers, and even patients, along with all relevant information like name, address, email, important dates, and more.
Content management
Keep track of existing content and push out new pieces. Whether that means articles, videos, or courses — you can make Rocketadmin into anything you want.
Inventory control
Track stock, shipping, and orders all in one place. Replenish inventory and initiate returns with a single click.
Booking management
Keep up with your guests, their reservations, cancellations, and transportation, as well as different locations’ availability — all across multiple properties.
Technical support
Oversee your users, reference their information, and even escalate a ticket or ban them when needed.
Get started for free — really free
There are actually two ways to use Rocketadmin for free.
You can self-host it on your own server, fully free under a source-available license (MPL 2.0), so you can expect frequent updates that add new functionalities, speed up performance, and improve the UI.
And if that’s not an option for you, we also offer a free tier.
And don’t worry, we made sure we design a free tier that’s just as welcoming for smaller projects.
If you need to manage your own Postgres database — or any of the other popular options — and don’t require branding or audit logs functionality, you can use Rocketadmin, hosted by us, entirely free forever.
It even comes with free technical support.
If you do want to add something rarer like IBM DB2, change Rocketadmin’s look with your company’s branding, or gain additional auditing functionality for a larger team, you can upgrade to a higher tier.
Is it for you?
We’re always expanding Rocketadmin’s functionality and trying to stay ahead of where our users’ needs are.
But it’s not just about adding new features — maintaining efficiency, an easy-to-use workflow, and instantly readable user interface are also integral to usability.
Additionally, we wanted to make sure that as many people as possible have access to a truly affordable and easy-to-use admin panel, and so our pricing model reflects that, too.
As long as your project is intended for personal use, it’s all free.
And if you want to expand that to a team, you can either self-host with the open-source version, or you can opt for a higher tier where everything is handled for you.
Additionally, our support team is always there to help you with any challenges in using our platform, and we even offer it for the free tier as well.
Whatever your project requires, a great admin panel can take your database from a burden to a breeze.
If that sounds like you, you can test Rocketadmin out online here.
